Jacob Beranek is a Wisconsin-born, New York-based composer of classical music hailed as "refreshingly upbeat and infectiously melodic" (Fanfare). His compositions are often infused with his love of traditions—musical, religious, or even his Czech heritage—and have been championed in cities around the world, including Chicago, Hong Kong, London, Milwaukee, Nashville, New York, Prague, Seattle, and Seoul. Upcoming highlights include performances with the Milwaukee Symphony Orchestra and the Peninsula Music Festival Orchestra, as well as choral performances in St. Paul's Cathedral (London) and Canterbury Cathedral.
A recipient of the Charles Ives Scholarship from the American Academy of Arts and Letters, Beranek received his B.M. in Composition from Vanderbilt University, his M.M. in Composition from The Juilliard School, and is currently pursuing his doctorate as a student of John Corigliano at Juilliard. He served as the inaugural Composer-in-Residence of the Midsummer’s Music Festival (Door County, WI) from 2017–20 and was honored by the American Ambassador to Czechia during a performance of his music in Prague Castle in 2018. |
